How to Verify Signal Without Using Your Personal Phone Number

Signal requires a phone number to register an account, and shows it can be used as your contact identifier unless you set a separate username. Steps

2. Open Signal, choose to register a new account, and enter the rented number with its country code.

3. Signal sends a registration code by SMS (occasionally by call) within seconds on a working number.

4. Enter the code from your rental's status page to complete registration.

One thing to know

Signal, like WhatsApp and Telegram, may re-send a code to the same number later if you log in from a new device. If you plan to keep using the account, a monthly rental keeps that number reachable instead of releasing it right after registration.
